Research and Planning: Creative practice task

We were given the task of creating a short video for the second part of "Another Brick In The Wall" the task was to create whatever we wanted for the music video and add whatever we wanted. The main point of this task was so that we could practice making a music video. We were also put in to groups by our teacher thus presenting another challenge in our working with people we may not normally work with. To begin we mind mapped all of the different things that we could incorporate in to the video we had ideas such as: teachers rioting, a mass student walk out and a complete disruption in school life. However we had a short time limit and thus we knew we would struggle to get every aspect that we wanted in to the video. Therefore we settled on having a focus along the main corridor of the school and finding different classes to riot. We also added the idea of it being a planned riot with students passing a note around school informing everyone of the time and place of the riot this not would then be discovered when the headmaster walked along the corridor at the end. Then when we began editing we discovered that all of our footage was filmed in portrait as the entire video was created using an iphone4 and so we had unintentionally filmed the video holding the phone portrait. But aside from that the footage was good quality and once it was lined up we began experimenting with the cuts and transitions we were using as well as speeding scenes up, slowing them down and reversing them. In terms of the peice being done in the space of three weeks with little planning it was successful yet it would have been better and more create as well as less improvised if we had been given more time to plan film and prepare the footage.
